The Foss Barrier in York: Photograph York Mix

The Foss Barrier in York was activated on Monday following rising water levels after the recent downpours.   Areas most at risk include riverside footpaths and low-lying land in York and to the south as far as Naburn Lock, including Kings Staith, Queens Staith and South Esplanade.  The level of the Ouse on Monday was 2.02m and was expected to peak at 3.23m early Tuesday morning before falling back as less rain is predicted this week.
