York’s Christmas lights switch-on event has been cancelled for the second year in a row. The decision was taken by Make It York and York BID with overcrowding in the city centre being the main cause for concern. The popular event last took place in 2019 and drew large crowds across the city. City centre visitors will still get the full festive experience and can visit the St Nicholas Fair and enjoy lights on the medieval bars and decorations throughout the city.
