City of York councillors have said the anti-terror barriers installed at the Shambles in York will be replaced. The black metal bollards caused protests when installed at the Pavement end of the street in preparation for Christmas crowds. However, there have been concerns over inaccessibility for wheelchair uses, with traders from the Shambles also complaining about the blocking of delivery vans. The barriers are said to be replaced as soon as the national team can do so.
