North Yorkshire has elected a new police, fire and crime commissioner. Following the resignation of Philip Allott last month, Conservative councillor for Harrogate, Zoe Metcalfe, has won the by-election with 41,000 votes – but with only a 14% turnout. The new priorities for North Yorkshire include supporting victims of crime, improving safety for women, and working with teachers and educators across the county.
