York Minster is opening a solar-powered café. Following disagreement about adding solar panels to the roof and damaging the former Minster school’s heritage, councillors have voted in favour of turning the building into a new eco-café to promote sustainable methods. The renovation is said to make the historic building more environmentally friendly with solar roof tiles and more accessible, including cycle parking, ice cream hut and gazebo.
