A message from Uthink Piccadilly Pop Art

On behalf of all at Uthink Piccadilly Pop Up art studios and gallery I’d like to invite you to one, some or all of our end of year events, and to help us celebrate all we have achieved during our tenancy. The redevelopers have just served us notice to be out by the end of the month.

In 2019 the charity Uthink PDP (People Developing People) took over York’s former Tax Office at 23 Piccadilly YO1 9PG when it was sold by the Council and began renting space to local artists. We have opened to the public every Saturday since August 2020 to showcase our work – give or take a plague or two.

We now comprise 15 artists, including some who have exhibited elsewhere, some who have been selected for York Open Studios, a handful of young artists on our mentoring programme, and a nationally renowned graffiti artist and muralist. Our work ranges from painting and drawing through abstract art and collage to photography, sculpture and installation. There is even some poetry!

The rundown is as follows:

Saturdays 11th December and 18th December: public opening as usual, 12 till 6 pm.

Sunday 19th: a festive market and extended art exhibition from 11am.

We’d be very happy to see you, especially if you haven’t visited us before. We were gaining quite a reputation for enterprise and innovation and were much loved and admired by many of our visitors, so I’m sure we can offer you something to enjoy. If you’re able to plan ahead, please let us know if you can join us.
