New data shows that over the last five years there has been a huge growth in small business in the UK.

Business experts, Bionic, have used nine different business metrics in their index to show which UK city has the strongest independent economy for small businesses to thrive.  York scored 70 out of 100 in its index revealing that it has 505 active businesses per 10,000 population and is the second-best city to start up a small business.

It also scored well as being one of the cheapest cities for floor office value at £98 per m2.
