We are delighted to announce the signing of defender Maxim Kouogun from League of Ireland Premier Division side Shelbourne on a free transfer.
The 24-year-old centre half, who came through the ranks at Irish side UCD, has previously played for Warrenpoint, Waterford, Harrogate Town and Wealdstone.
He also featured in UCD’s Europa League qualifying campaign in 2015/16 and has made just under 150 senior appearances so far in his professional career.
The Cameroonian has impressed manager John Askey on trial and in a behind closed doors friendly game last week, leading to the contract offer until the end of the season.
Upon joining the club, he said: “I’m delighted to be here and can’t wait to get going now.
“I’ve got just short of 150 appearances under my belt so I’m looking forward to bringing that experience over to England and really kick on.
“It’s a good group of lads and I just can’t wait to start playing games – I’ve got pace and other attributes I think I can bring to the team and hopefully I will do that and help the lads.
“Promotion has to be in mind – come in and get as high as possible in the table and play as many games as possible.”
Kouogun is available for selection this weekend after receiving international clearance today.
The deal is subject to FA and National League approval.
