Local York green group Planet South Bank is organising a community creative writing project.
The project will inspire local people in the South Bank area of York to create stories of hope about how South Bank in York successfully adapted to the unfolding climate and environment crisis.
Drawing on the concept of 'thrutopias', our aim is to imagine what South Bank’s ideal future could look like. Who better to imagine the next 30-50 years than the people who already live here, many of whom are likely to be still be resident through those years?
Monthly drop-in sessions will offer support, sharing of ideas, and help with writing.
The project will run for six months, giving everyone a deadline to work to!
The project is open to
- People who would like to try their hand at writing a story of hope – no previous writing experience needed. Stories could be written, or shared as an audio or video contribution.
- Illustrators – we’re hoping for some wonderful creative writing pieces to emerge, and they will deserve wonderful illustrations!
- More experienced writers, who are interested to share hints and tips or to be a supportive presence for those who are new to writing or could do with a confidence-boost along the way.
