Applefields School have embarked on amazing fundraising efforts to create a sensory garden for their children with complex needs. Approximately £7,600 has already been raised towards the £10,000 target.
Earlier this year, they completed 3 Peakes and are now planning ‘Brave the Shave’ when Lucie Wigley a teacher at the school will have her head shaved at the end of term in order to raise a further £1000 towards the outdoor sensory garden for children with complex needs including outdoor sensory stations. They hope "the garden will help maximise the pupils educational potential while creating a safe and calming learning environment where they can thrive."
Lucie has worked at the school for 8 years and will be donating all her hair to the LittlePrincesses Organisation. You can contribute by going to the GoFundMe page: Fundraiser by Helen Hughes : Brave the Shave (gofundme.com)
Applefields is a secondary school for young people with additional needs. They have embedded classes at secondary mainstream schools in the City and a Post 19 provision in partnership with Askham Bryan College.
The fundraiser is on Friday 21st July at 10am in the main school hall.
