City Centre meeting on the Linton on Ouse “refugee processing facility”
York Stand up to Racism has organized a public meeting to take place on Friday 17th June at Priory Street Centre to look at why this facility should not be used to “process” traumatized asylum seekers.
Speakers include:
Rachael Maskell MP
Gary McVeigh – regional secretary for the National Education Union
Nahella Ashraf – from Stand up to Racism
Plus speakers from Refugee Action York and the Linton on Ouse action group
York is a proud City of Sanctuary and an anti-racist city and housing refugees in highly inappropriate housing like this is just one more example of the government’s “hostile environment” which is making it almost impossible to claim asylum despite the UK’s legal obligations to do.
