York Disabled Workers Cooperative are very concerned about the ever increasing number of elderly people who are currently approaching them for firewood but cannot afford the £3.00 a bag.
A Company spokesperson, Phil Davies, said that the York pensioners over the last 15 years have supported our enterprise by purchasing our garden products.
We are not going to see those who have wood burning facilities go cold this winter because they cannot afford the cost of a bag of firewood.
From Monday 24th October 2024 all pensioners will be given free softwood firewood . If there are any pensioners who are desperate come to our small workshop at the Raylor Centre.
We would like to thank our York MP Rachael Maskell for speaking out against withdrawing the winter allowance.
