York Maze Hallowscream off to a great spooky start

Thursday night was the opening night of Hallowscream at York Maze and I was lucky enough to attend for Jorvik Radio and soak up the atmosphere and see what it was all about.  The place was buzzing from the kick off at 6.30 with well organised parking and supervised smooth entrance (unless you were unfortunate enought to meet the axeman!).  It was simply a maze ing and spooktacular!

Hallowscream will be running until 5th November (certain nights of the week only and must be booked in advance).

York Maze Hallowscream 2021 was a great success and they are already winners of the best screampark! Judging on what I saw last night it will be a runaway success again this year.

I met a large group of friends making their way from the car park all dressed up and I wasnt sure if they were part of the 100 roving actors, having been warned that frights are not limited to the 5 haunted houses and beware they crop up everywhere.

Certainly crept up on me several times - I think I was axed four times, got the hatchet twice, screamed at lots and blessed by somebody with a cross.  Its not surprising to learn that York Maze, on the land of the former Dunnington Lodge Farm, is said to be the most haunted in Yorkshire and where a tragedy occurred on the farm in 1873.  The owner Tom Pearcy has certainly experienced a "number of happenings" since he purchased the farm in 2005 - you can read about it here York Maze Hallowscream - Our Story

There is a central entertainment zone undercover and I saw some amazing live stage acts.  There is also a bar and a resident DJ.  Seperately there is a food court with lots of street food choices.

This is a great night for all the family and friends.  Please note there is a seperate Hallowtween for "fearless 10-15 year olds" Hallowtween - Home from 22nd to 30th October.

You must be 14+ to attend Hallowscream, children under 14 will not be admitted. Children aged 14 & 15 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Proof of age will be requested for anyone who appears under 21, please bring suitable ID.

Standard Tickets are sold in 30 min timeslots, you cannot enter before your booked time and have to arrive within the 30 minutes timeslot. Once on site you can stay as long as you wish until closing.  RIP tickets allow you to enter anytime from 6.30pm until last entry 9pm, and give you fastrack entry to each of the five scare houses.

York Maze is now a cashless venue, you will need to pay by card for any rides, merch, food & drink etc.
