Rents in York have risen nearly 10% in the last year according to a survey with approximately £975 being the average monthly rent, and taking 36% of a person’s income, 6% higher than the Government’s affordability rate.

Properties are generally taking only 11 days on the market to be rented out with the shortage of properties forcing the rental prices up.  Coupled with the huge increase in utility bills York renters are being forced out of the area - rents in the rest of Yorkshire are around £697 per month.
