£50,000 of funding available for community groups and charities in York
The Ways to Wellbeing Small Grants Fund is now open to applications for funding to support projects across the city that strengthen local communities, build connectivity between people, and reduce health inequality.
Community groups and clubs, charities and other not-for-profits (including small groups and new organisations) across York are being encouraged to apply to the fund, which is being managed by one of York CVS’s Social Prescribing projects, Ways to Wellbeing.
Visit York CVS’s website to find out more about the fund, the application process and what support is available: https://www.yorkcvs.org.uk/ways-to-wellbeing-social-prescribing-small-grants-fund/. The closing date for applications is Monday 22 August at 12pm.
Ways to Wellbeing has delivered an annual small grants fund for several years and has distributed nearly £100,000 to develop and strengthen York’s voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector to enable them to support York’s communities. This year they are delighted to be collaborating with the City of York Council Public Health team who has allocated an additional £30,000 to reduce health inequality in the city.
Natasha Almond, Health and Wellbeing Development Manager, York CVS, commented:
“We’re offering lots of support and advice to applicants so, if you’ve got a great project idea but have never applied for funding before, we’re here to get your group started! Just get in touch with us as soon as possible so we can support you through the process”.
Peter Roderick, Consultant in Public Health, City of York Council, added:
“It's great to be able to partner with Ways to Wellbeing and to support organisations and people making a real difference. In the context of a city recovering from the pandemic and with the current cost of living situation, every little bit of resource can help to reduce inequalities and make the city fairer”
