A popular high street bank is set to close its doors in York down for good

The Halifax Bank in Accomb is confirmed to be closing next January 25th.

The cash machine at the Acomb branch is also said to be closing.

A spokesperson for the branch says its because less people use the store due to the increasing popularity of online banking.  

The branch's main demographic of customers is people between the age of 55-74, taking up 34% of the total.

The nearest Branch to Acomb will now be the Halifax on Parliament Street almost two miles away. 

Cash and ATM network LINK is said to be moving into the area when the close is complete.
