Plans to redevelop the A64 north east of York have been delayed by up to a year.
The potential upgrades have been one of many transport upgrades that have been delayed by the Secretary of State for Transport Mark Harper.
The potential improvements would involve turning the A-road into to a dual carriageway to help reduce the accident and fatality rate which is currently the worst in the north of England.
Conservative councillor for Derwent Valley David Jeffels stated that the plans to improve the major road have been going for 40 years whilst examining how it could be improved only gained action in 2016.
