Parents, children, and teachers at Acomb Primary School held a protest last Friday, calling for urgent action to address serious road safety concerns. Despite the City of York Council designating Acomb Road as a “very high priority” for road safety improvements, it has failed to provide safe walking routes to the school two years on.
Dave Atkinson, head of highways and transport at the City of York Council, said “The council are aware of the requests from residents around road safety in the area, and we are currently carrying out an assessment of potential measures that could be put in place." A report on these findings will be considered on 21 March 2023, when the transport decision session is held.
