The Archeology on Prescription project has won an award

The Archaeology on Prescription project has won the community engagement honour at the Museums and Heritage Awards for its role in changing the lives of people in the community.

The project is run by the York Archaeological Trust and its city-based partners with its aim being to pair people with mental health or substance issues with archaeologists to help them develop new skills, communicate with others and explore local history.

The project plans to continue helping those, with their plan being to allow participants to join the excavation to the Roman Street level at Northern House, if planning permission is granted.
