The much-loved Barnitts in Colliergate, is awaiting a decision from the council on their application

The much-loved Barnitts in Colliergate, is awaiting a decision from the council on their application to downsize the store and build ten townhouses and two apartments.

An independent valuation of the development was needed by the council to assess whether the plans would contribute towards affordable housing in York. The district valuer has reported it is not suitable for affordable housing.

Barnitts plan to open a “click and collect” store in James Street to meet customers changing shopping style.
