The proposed redevelopment of Bootham Park Hospital has been cancelled due to cost concerns.
The plans which were approved just 3 weeks ago have been dropped due the spiralling costs of the project as Central MP Rachel Maskell believes this is caused by developers worried about a potential recession.
The project initially proposed converting the old mental hospital into a retirement home with a sports pitch expansion to the neighbouring Bootham School.
The news of the cancellation also comes just weeks after another development on Rougier street was dropped for a similar reason.
