Celebrating 60 Years of York Hospital Radio

Celebrations are continuing to mark the 60th anniversary of York Hospital Radio, and now the radio station has announced a special 60th birthday edition of its annual fundraising quiz, to be hosted by Alan Dedicoat.

The Voice of the Balls and of Strictly Come Dancing will be in York on Friday, 6 September, to host the event at New Earswick Indoor Bowling Club on Huntington Road, from 7.30pm. There is ample parking at the venue. Tickets are on sale now, and cost £12 per person. Teams of up to four people are encouraged to take part.

As ever, the quiz will be put together by Alan, and will feature several rounds of questions on a wide range of subjects, and the evening will also include a raffle with valuable prizes on offer.

Chair of York Hospital Radio, Ian Clennan, explained: “This is a very special year for us, as we celebrate 60 years of our unique service to the York Hospital, and I am delighted that Alan is able to join us again for our annual quiz to help us mark the occasion. It’s always a fun evening, and helps us raise vital funds to allow us to continue to broadcast to our listeners.”

York Hospital Radio is a registered charity, run entirely by volunteers, and broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week within the hospital, but also via a free app, via smart speakers and online at www.yorkhospitalradio.com

It broadcasts music shows, request shows, sports commentaries, and Outside Broadcasts from several venues in and around York, as well as interviews and information for patients.

To sign up for the quiz, visit the News pages of the York Hospital Radio website.
