A charity ball, organised by Deanne Leng and Annette Reid, has raised a fantastic £6,600 for York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity.

The ball was held on 13 July at Scarborough Rugby Club and exceeded its initial fundraising target of £5,000. The event, attended by 150 generous supporters, was an extraordinary success, with funds raised being split equally between three departments at Scarborough Hospital: the Chemotherapy Unit, the Breast Care team and Cancer Services including the wig service.

This was the fourth ball organised by the two friends, who said: “These three departments provided us both with excellent care during our own breast cancer treatments in 2015 and we continue to receive much needed ongoing support from the Breast Care team who offer a valuable service to breast cancer patients in this area. If our fundraising can help to make even one patient’s experience more comfortable then we will be incredibly happy.”

Emma Sargent, Community Fundraiser at York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Deanne and Annette for their ongoing support of the charity. They have put in an extraordinary amount of work to make this year’s ball such a success, and we are absolutely thrilled with the amount raised. Thank you so much to Deanne and Annette, as well as all the companies and individuals who have generously supported the event.”
