Council on the hunt for "high quality individuals" to govern local schools.
The City of York Council is looking for “high quality individuals” who want to volunteer their support for school governing boards. Whilst the boards are not involved in the operational running of schools, they are responsible for strategic leadership and accountability within schools and academies, including setting policies, appointing head teachers and holding them to account for school performance.
There is no requirement for a formal understanding of the education system; there is support and training for those interested, on offer from the Governance Support and Development Service.
