The conservatives in York have now elected a candidate for the recently added position of Mayor of York and North Yorkshire.
North Yorkshire Council’s executive member for highways and transportation, Keane Duncan, will stand to be the combined authority’s first mayor.
He was one of three on the shortlist for a Conservative Party candidate and it is assumed that Mr Duncan will now be the favourite for the role, given that the county currently has a conservative majority.
The elections are expected to be held in May 2024.
