This week the City of York Council announced plans to increase the quality and quantity of council homes, with an emphasis on modern, energy-efficient housing
The City of York Council has recently announced plans to increase the quality and quantity of council homes in the area.
The Council’s strategy is to increase their house buying and building, through selling unsuitable land in order to find the funds to invest in buying more modern, energy-efficient homes which better meet the long-term needs of York residents.
Furthermore, the council aims to continue delivering 600 energy efficient, zero carbon homes as part of the Housing Delivery Programme.
Additionally, the Council plans to continue working on its partnership with registered housing providers to sell land assets for the delivery of affordable housing, with sites including the former Morell House in Clifton, Castle Mills in the City Centre and Lowfield Green in Acomb for residents aged 55+ already being selected.
