As well as residential consumers suffering financially due to the energy crisis, Paul Crossman, the chairman of the National Campaign for Pubs has said that 300% increases have already affected the industry. Commercial energy is not capped and Paul is asking the government to offer a package of support.
Paul who runs three pubs in York said ““We’re already seeing hospitality businesses unable to get a new contract, because they’re regarded as being so high risk by the energy supply companies now, that they are literally asking for a £10,000 deposit upfront to even sign somebody up for a deal.
“If faced with that, anyone who’s got a marginal situation already is simply going to walk away from the business.”
