A York fire crew was called out to a roundabout near Wigginton on Saturday, after a car caught fire on the ring road.
The incident happened just before 10am on the A1237.
The fire, thought to have been caused by an engine fault, was extinguished by the Huntington crew, who used a hose reel jet, small tools and breathing apparatus to put out the flames.
The firefighters then moved the car to the side of the road in order to let other vehicles past.
