Fire crews were kept busy on Friday after they were called out to a chimney fire in the Easingwold area.
Firefighters received the call at around 8:27pm and were told that the fire was likely to spread to the rest of the two storey household, with it later being found to have spread to the airing cupboard.
Crews visited the house on Saturday morning and conducted a thorough investigation of the property including the loft.
The crews also assisted neighbours by fitting smoke alarms to the properties in order to make the neighbourhood safer.
