York firefighters conducted a successful rescue of a man who was inside a burning house in Acomb.
The incident, which happened on Thoresby Road in the early hours of Sunday morning, saw the firefighters help the 59-year-old make his way outside of the smoke-filled house.
A spokesperson from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue also confirmed that a second man, aged 34 years, managed to exit the building by himself.
It has been revealed that a pan of chicken had been left unattended on the hob and that this is what caused the smoke.
