The inaugural UNESCO EXPO welcomed more than 3000 people to celebrate the 10th anniversary of York’s designation as a City of Media and Arts.
David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire opened the EXPO last week, as well as the Reignite 6: Culture Makes Places event.
The Mayor said recently that, ‘“York is the only city in the UK to get this recognition from UNESCO for its impact on the media arts scene.’
The events are part of an initiative called ‘One Creative north’, a partnership formed by Mayors from across the North of England to develop the North’s creative skills, providing support through a £50m investment fund offering loans to creative businesses.
