Spike in fly-tipping results in increase of fines as part of #CrimeNotToCare.
City of York Council have warned that from 1st April, fines for fly-tipping will rise to £1000 after reports found that there were over 1800 cases of fly tipping in York last year, an increase of 11% from the year before. This equates to nine incidents per 1000 people.
The increase resulted in recommendations to increase fines for those responsible as part of the council’s #CrimeNotToCare campaign in partnership with Keep Britain Tidy. The council advises to make sure that the waste carrier you hire is licensed in order to prevent illegal fly-tipping.
