A York shop that has been boarded up for over four years has finally reopened its doors. The former River Island on Coney Street is now Fabrication Crafts, after being empty since March 2018. River Island was shut due to ‘trading performances and store location’, which prompted growing concern for the future of the city centre’s shops.
Fabrication Crafts is a social enterprise which has supported local artists and makers since 2018. It was previously located just opposite its new home but had to move due to the lease ending.
