A York-based mixed martial arts instructor, Dustin Hone, is taking on his next fundraising challenge in aid of the mental health charity York Mind.
Since 2021, Dustin has utilised his strength, mixed martial arts community, and enthusiasm to take
on different fundraising challenges and has raised well over £2,000 for York Mind. So far, Dustin has
hosted several mixed martial arts competitions, and in October completed the Yorkshire Marathon.
This April he’s established his next fundraising challenge and is attempting to complete 100
handstand steps a day throughout the month of April.
Dustin says “I wanted to set myself a tough challenge to keep raising money, as I believe
fundraising should be difficult in order to encourage people to sponsor me! Mental health is an
important cause for me and the work York Mind do is crucial for supporting the local
community.”
James Shipley, Community and Events Fundraiser at York Mind, said: “We are so thrilled to have
people like Dustin who will stop at nothing to raise both awareness and funds for us. Over the last
year, over 3,500 people have accessed our services which simply couldn’t exist without the
generosity and enthusiasm of the local community. We’re forever grateful for their determination to
raise awareness about mental health, and their support for the work that we do.”
To this point, Dustin has been spotted down the Shambles, through his gym, and various other
places taking on his challenge. If you spot him around, give him encouragement, and you can
support his fundraising via his Just Giving page:
