Invitation to Local Schools: Join the York Food Festival's Free Children's Workshops

Tuesday, 4 July 2023 00:00

By Barbara Constable

The York Food Festival is thrilled to extend a warm invitation to all local schools in the area to participate in our hands-on free children's workshops between the 25th and 29th of September.

The festival, dedicated to celebrating local food and culinary experiences, aims to inspire Key Stage 2 pupils and foster a love for homemade, healthy, and locally sourced food.

The children's workshops offer an engaging and interactive experience for students, allowing them to discover the joy of cooking, learn about food origins, and develop important life skills. Through hands-on activities, our experienced chefs and educators will guide the students in creating delicious items, including homemade bread, pasta, butter, a range of vegan dips, mini pizzas, and teaching how to make their own fish fingers. They can explore different flavours and understand the importance of nutritious eating habits.

The festival's capacity for children's workshops has expanded to accommodate up to 1200 places, ensuring even more students can benefit from this enriching experience. The workshops take place in a series of short sessions for 2 hours in morning or afternoon sessions starting at 10 am or 1 pm.

As a not-for-profit organization, the York Food Festival is committed to providing these workshops free of charge to local schools. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to explore the world of food and gain valuable knowledge about healthy eating habits, regardless of their financial resources.

To register your school's interest and reserve a spot in the free children's workshops, please email admin@yorkfoodfestival.com.  Spaces are limited, so we encourage schools to get in touch as soon as possible to secure their participation.
