Highly regarded York school, Joseph Rowntree School celebrated its 80th birthday last week. The school, located in New Earswick, hosted a celebratory event, attended by ex-pupils and staff.
The celebrations included tea, coffee and cake, with an ice cream van on site for the whole afternoon, as well as a visit from 91-year-old Mr Shield, who started at the school in its second year in 1943.
To showcase the school’s rich history in the best way possible, the main school website featured over 500 photographs for those celebrating to enjoy.
