An iconic York shop which is said to be the oldest retailer in Britain is set to close due to market conditions. On the 17th of March, Banks Musicroom on Lendal will be shutting down along with five other Musicroom outlets across the UK. Edinburgh, Exeter, Salisbury, Stratford, and Lincoln stores are all due to close, with only one remaining in London. A statement from the retailer read, ‘The company will increase its focus on continuing the successful growth of its Musicroom.com e-commerce channel.’
