Major rail delays as trains collide with object on North Yorkshire line

A train hit an object on the line between Darlington and York early on Wednesday evening.

Given that the object caused damage to the train it hit, the line is now down until repairs can be made.

The object is thought to have an animal of some kind.

Services most likely to be affected include the LNER service from London to Edinburgh and the TransPennine express from York to Newcastle.

Some rail replacement methods have been used for services that definitely cant go ahead.
