A man who killed a new father with a single punch, has been jailed.
22-year-old Benjamin Calvert pleaded guilty to manslaughter in court on Friday, having taken the life of Alan Barefoot last year.
The tragedy occurred at around 9:45 pm on Saturday 16th October 2021 at the Royal pub on Thirsk Market Place.
Calvert had punched Mr Barefoot on the side of the head, causing him to fall back on to the pavement.
Benjamin Calvert’s sentence is understood to be five years and four months of time spent behind bars.
