Skeldergate was closed on Saturday after water from an overflow pipe spilled out on to the road near a junction.
For the majority of time, the top end of the ‘normal’ water level of the Ouse is 1.9 metres, but the level was above 4 metres for most of the weekend, peaking yesterday.
Although most of York remains unaffected, some riverside walkways are underwater and both St George’s Field and Esplanade car parks were closed.
