Mothership Festival 2024 Another great success!

2500 people attended the Mothership Festival at Acomb Sports Club grounds on Sunday and the annual event, now in its 14th year, certainly did not disappoint.

Described as a "community day for all the family with a range of activities for young and old alike” it certainly lived up to that. So much so that everyone is already asking when tickets for 2025 will be released (29th June 2025 put the date in your diary).

All the proceeds raised from ticket sales (which sold out very quickly!) go to the upkeep of the Sports Club which includes maintaining the grounds and clubhouse as well as organising opportunities for children to play cricket.

Jorvik Radio’s Battle of the Bands winners ROBO kicked off the day to an already large crowd at 12.45 as well as local bands, Tigers in the Dark, The Living Young and The Melting Pots also performed live and the crowd loved them all - dancing started early!  The super popular Supermodels headlined at the festival wowing the crowd with their 70’s,80’s and 90’s pop and rock songs.

Jorvik Radio were the hosts for the festival with Steph-Leighton Miles and Adam Coggin (RefreshRewind show) on stage throughout the day - even giving money away to some lucky people.

The festival is one of the few events where you can take your own food and drink, the bar was serving drinks as well and there was a selection of food outlets to choose from.  There was also organised sports, inflatables, face painting and an array of charity stalls and raffles.

A lot of hard work goes into getting a festival like this to the starting line and the Acomb Sports Club and the organisers should be so proud that year after year they have managed to really create an awesome family day that is the highlight of the year in lots of peoples calendars.  Roll on next year!
