NE Musicals wins Gold for Best Event at York Mix Choice Awards

Approximately 50,000 votes were cast and NE Musicals won Gold in the Best Event category for their show, Oliver Twist, which was performed last Christmas at Joseph Rowntree Theatre.

The first York Mix Choice awards were held last Thursday night, sponsored by Yorkshire Profiles, and covered nominations in 20 different categories.

Approximately 50,000 votes were cast and NE Musicals won Gold in the Best Event category for their show, Oliver Twist, which was performed last Christmas at Joseph Rowntree Theatre.

NE is a theatre company in York creating new and exciting musical productions and have historically worked with Jorvik Radio on commercial media campaigns, promoting productions such as Wind in the Willows, Priscilla, Oliver, and most recently the sell-out production of "Into the Woods" the highly popular Wind in the Willows story. 

Regarding their fantastic win last week,  Steve Tearle, Chairman of NE Musicals said "We at NE are overjoyed to win the Best event award at York Mix choice awards It’s such a prestigious category and to win it for our production of Oliver! NE formed a partnership last year cementing their relationship with Jorvik Radio, the official radio station partner with NE Musicals.  

Jorvik Radio also runs competitions for the public to win tickets to NE performances with opportunities to obtain half price tickets through the Jorvik Radio website voucher scheme.

Steve and his team now have rehearsals well under way for their next performance: "Grease the Musical", at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre from Tuesday 25th to Saturday 29th July (tickets: Grease (josephrowntreetheatre.co.uk).  They have already announced their "Fiddler on the Roof" production for April 2024.
