The new owners of the disused Spurriergate in York City Centre are looking to turn the building into a “quirky” hotel and café bar.
The former Beaverbrooks location has been bought by Vincent Roberts and Camelia Andrei, owners of the spooky-themed Hocus Pocus Tiny Hotel, who hope to give it a new lease of life once plans by Helmsley Group to redevelop Coney Street get underway.
City of York Council approved plans last week that would have the Boots knocked down so a new street can be built to the riverside, with the Spurriergate on corner of a street heading down to the River Ouse.
Helmsley has described the development as ‘lovely’, perfect for a themed hotel, and ‘quirky’.
