People in York are being warned about a scam in which victims are called by someone claiming to be an officer from the Metropolitan Police. They will claim to have the victim's relative in custody with their bank card.
When the victim says they do not have a relative by that name, they are told to secure their bank account as it has been compromised. They must then attend the bank to withdraw a large sum of money, to be collected from their address by an officer. If you have been a victim of this, please call 101.
