A popular York pub has suddenly shut its doors and appointed insolvency practitioners. The Gillygate put a notice on their website saying they have permanently closed, marking the end of the eight-year journey that saw the historic public house transform to become a hub of live entertainment.
Landlords Brain and Suzanne Furey took over the pub in 2014, investing £500,000 in a complete makeover. They turned the Gillygate from “a 1980s style B&B” into a beautiful spot.
