Kevin Sinfield is taking on his latest challenge of running 7 ultra marathons in 7 days in 7 cities to help those affected by motor neurone disease (MND).

43-year-old Sinfield is the defence coach of the England men’s rugby union team and has already raised millions of pounds for MND charities since his friend and former Leeds Rhinos team-mate Rob Burrow was diagnosed in 2019.

This challenge will contribute to funding the Rob Burrow MND centre set to be built next year in Leeds. Sinfield will run 27.2 miles a day, a full marathon length plus an extra mile.

The challenge begins in Leeds before heading to Cardiff, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Dublin, and Brighton before finishing in London on December 7.

The first day of his challenge, Friday December 1, will see him running from Leeds to York, you can cheer him on and show your support at three locations:

  • Headingly Stadium - 11am-1pm - The starting point
  • York Racecourse - 2pm-5pm - When Kevin reaches the racecourse he will start 'The extra mile' which invites guests to come and run the final mile with him
  • York Minster - 3pm - 5pm - The finish line

Leeds Hospitals Charity is supporting Kevin Sinfield in this challenge and is seeking volunteers to cheer him on and marshal the event. If you are interested in getting involved or learning more about the event, you can find out more here.
