A change.org petition calling for the University of York to continue its lease with the historic King's Manor has reached 1,200 petitions, less than a month after the University announced the ending of its 60 year lease with the Grade I listed building.

Following the University of York’s termination of its lease with the historic King’s Manor building, a change.org petition has been created by PHD student Constance Halstead, titled “Save Kings Manor”.

The petition calls for Centres of Medieval and Eighteenth Century Studies to remain at King’s Manor as the proposed changes will have a detrimental impact on the site of King’s manor and the future of its academic communities.

The petition began on June 30th and already boasts over 1,200 signatures. The manor, based on Heslington Campus, was built in 1270 and has been leased by York University from the Council since 1963.
