School pupils in York are being urged to stay home from school, as teachers prepare to go on strike.
Several head teachers across the city have been making provision ahead of the first strikes, which are due to start on 1 February.
Union leaders for The National Education Union have said the strike is about the fall in wages for teachers, which has continued for around a decade.
Some schools will be open for vulnerable and EHCP students, but thousands of other pupils are expected to avoid attending classes.
