Twenty three year old Hamish McArthur, from York will compete in the Sport Climbing Final on Friday in Paris.
Team GB have a strong chance of taking a podium place in the men's boulder and lead final at the Olympic Games as the only nation to have two Olympic finalists, which is a big deal given there was only one entry when Sport Climbing debuted in the Tokyo Olympics.
York’s Hamish McArthur finished eighth in the semi-final over 10 points ahead of his closest competitor.
Hamish started climbing aged 5 when his parents booked him on a climbing course in an attempt to channel his energy.
He went on to win the junior world championships in 2021, and earned a bronze medal at his first senior World Championship in Moscow the same year.
Hamish qualified for Paris earlier this year and has been cheered on from the stands by his kilt-clad family.
