This autumn, the Phoenix sound and light show is set to commemorate the July 1984 fire which damaged part of the York Minister.

From the 19th October to 2nd November, a light and sound display is set to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the devastating fire which destroyed part of the York Minister cathedral.

The show is the brainchild of artists Ross Ashton and Karen Monid. The show includes a digital visual trail in which QR codes can be used to unlock a dramatic archive photos revealing the shocking events of 9 July 1984.

York residents, students at both York Universities and children under the age of 18 have free admission to the York Minister.

General admission tickets can be bought online at yorkminister.org.
